SALI Ministry Statement
Rationale: | |
| Obedience: | |
| 1. | God instructs Christians to tell others about Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) |
| 2. | God has granted each Christian gifts that are to be used for (i) the common good of the church (1 Corinthians 12:7) and (ii) to prepare others for works of service (Ephesians 4:12). |
| Using a Biblical Model: | |
| 3. | The Bible commends gender-based ministry (Titus 2:3-5). Specifically, older women are instructed to train younger women in godliness. It is important to note, however, that younger women are also able to teach (1 Timothy 4:11-12). |
Vision Statement: | |
| Seeking to encourage and nurture women in our church, and reach women in our community, with a desire to see their lives transformed by Christ. | |
Goals: | |
| 1. | That first priority will always be faithful and clear gospel presentations (Romans 1:16). |
| 2. | That SALI will encourage strong links to be built between women of all age groups (morning and evening congregations), with a desire to see older women teaching younger women (Titus 2:3-5). |
| 3. | To support women, and encourage growth, through every stage of life (from teens to retirement and beyond). |
| 4. | To see the women of St. Aidan's love, support and encourage each other beyond the formal structure of SALI. This means meeting both spiritual and material needs. |
| 5. | That we encourage and assist women to build strong relationships in the local community and with their non-Christian friends, in order to share the Jesus with them. |
| 6. | To provide good quality training for women, with the aim of seeing women well equipped for BPMinistry. This includes providing opportunities for women to explore and exercise their gifts. |
Strategies: | |
| 1. | To run at least 3 evangelistic events a year. |
| 2. | That at least one member from each congregation sit on the SALI committee. |
| 3. | To encourage all women to belong to a St. Aidan's Bible study group. |
| 4. | To ensure that advertisement for evangelistic events involves interacting with the community (when appropriate). |
| 5. | That the women of St. Aidan's are actually involved in the planning and running of SALI events (see 'St. Aidan's Women's Ministry Model'). |
| 6. | To run at least one 'in-house' training session per year. |
| 7. | To encourage women at St Aidan's and their friends, to attend EQUIP and Katoomba Women's Convention. |
| 8. | To produce and present written information on SALI events and promote events as they draw near. |
