Seniors

SCOPE (Seniors Christian Outreach Program for Enrichment) is our program for seniors that meets at Grove Church St Aidan’s at 11 AM on the third Friday of the month.

SCOPE gives you the opportunity to try something different, to widen your horizons and to make new friendships. It includes a short time of focusing on God (half hour church service), followed by a light lunch and a social activity. The activities vary from month to month, including guest speakers, entertainment groups (such as children from local schools), games, demonstrations ranging from flower arrangements to exercises, and picnic outings in spring and autumn.

Accessibility and transport

SCOPE has been running at Grove Church St Aidan’s for 30 years and tries to especially cater for the needs of people who are restricted by disability or frailty. Our coordinator is a qualified occupational therapist and other church members attend the group as carers. They have been trained to assist you if you have mobility, visual, hearing, incontinence problems, and much more.

There is wheelchair access in and out of the church buildings and a disabled toilet. In an emergency, first aid is available and your doctor or an ambulance are only a phone call away.

We can arrange transport from your front door to and from the church in a community bus. If you are unable to use the bus, you and your carer are welcome to come via your own transport arrangements. In very limited circumstances, individual transport may be able to be arranged.

Family, friends and carers are also most welcome.

Contact

For any questions about the program or if you wish to discuss your personal care requirements, please feel free to contact the SCOPE coordinator by telephone, or fill out the registration/expression of interest form and she will be in touch.
